Out-of-Character Information
Name: Rika L

Character Information
Name: Suzuki Eliska Zhou
Age: 15
Birthday: October 27th
Gender: Male
Year: 6th
House: Rutilus
Blood Status: Unknown
Wand: Cherry wood, 14 1/2" with Ashwinder ash core
Other Info of Note: Eliska doesn't like using his wand all too much he'd rather use Coffee to direct his magic instead, even though he finds them both equally annoying at times. Although Eliska's main language is Japanese, he knows a handful of words in Cantonese and because of the sudden change of schools, he also knows some choppy English.

Family:
-Father:Suzuki Sasha [Half-blood]
-Mother:Unknown
-Siblings:Xiao Daiyu [12- Full blood]
-Other:Coffee- A Malayan Flying Fox and Eliska's familiar that can be seen clinging to him almost constantly. Coffee has a six-foot wingspan and just barely being an adult, the possibility to grow more. Eliska talks to her pretty often, and she's come to be comforted by the quiet and near-monotoned voice.

Appearance: Standing around five-foot nine, Eliska's asian decent has given him sharp, dark brown eyes, his left one hidden by his hair more often than not. His naturally black hair is dyed to a blonde in front and a medium brown color in the back. He uses a light cement charm to slick the back up and forward, somewhat resembling half a mohawk. His body is decently proportioned, having enough of a build so that he's not crazy lanky, but his face is still in the process of loosing the small amount of baby fluff in his cheeks. Eliska has a few dark scars that run straight across his face over the top of his nose, all of them covered by a silvery-white bandanna. Outside of school, he prefers to wear black and white tops with dark pants.

Personality: Eliska's a quiet individual, not particularly favoring being alone, just not as social as his peers seem to be. He's a hard worker when he feels like it, but can be pretty stubborn and sometimes lazy if whatever he's doing doesn't interest him. He also prefers not to voice things if he can help it, concious of what others might think of him. Blunt and analytical when he does open his mouth however, Eliska can pick up a lot of things most people tend to miss, but often overlooks the more obvious ways to accomplish things. If one does end up getting to know him though, he's amusing to be around during his occasional rant. And on a side note, he talks to himself... alot.

Likes: His family, reading, sleeping, snow, baking, complaining about things that don't really matter, Coffee [secretly].
Dislikes: His wand, loud people, hot weather, crowds, big cities, how much of a show-off he was when he was younger.

History: Eliska grew up with a single father [who might as well be a mother, mind you] by the name of Sasha in the Hokkiado Prefecture of Japan. They lived in a bustling yet quaint neighborhood on top of a somewhat less-popular bakery shop for both wizards and muggles [Similar to a coffee shop but restaurant-style, with a bigger selection of baked goods as well] that Sasha ran. Before Daiyu was adopted, Eliska would watch his father and his small crew shuffle back and forth through the doors to the kitchen from the front desk. Once he turned six, Eliska had the small job of going to the tables people seated themselves at and taking their orders when he was up for it, even making friends with a few of the regulars. Who wouldn't want a cute little kid serving them at such a casual place?

After a rather hectic day just a few days before the New Year, Eliska had gone upstairs, ready to head to sleep when Sasha brought a young girl into the medium-sized living space. He introduced her as Daiyu Xiao, apparently his new younger sister. Sasha had adopted her from a foster home that could no longer take care of her because of financial and attitude issues, but didn't want to send her to an orphanage. ...And because Sasha had a weakness for Chinese kids, which is why he took to making Eliska's middle name Zhou. It took a few weeks, but Daiyu eventually opened up from her cling-and-hide shell and showed her bubbly-yet-tomboyish side, surprising both of them.

Sasha had gotten Eliska just a few months after his birth through a semi-closed adoption, letting the birth mother choose his birth name as his last one was changed to Suzuki and choosing his favorite chinese name for him. Eliksa didn't know his mother growing up or at all really [even if she was the one that gave him a Czechoslovakian name, and a girl's at that], but didn't dwell on it much, trying to ignore the fact that the other boys and girls had mommies and... Well, he didn't. But it wasn't as if Eliska had never tried asking Sasha about her- he did countless times when he was younger, before he noticed the same awkward silence followed by a worried look before a lame excuse from Sasha, and then watching as he rushed away to tend to other things. After realizing that it was the same drill every time, Eliska stopped asking, no matter how much he wanted to and simply accepted the fact that Sasha just didn't feel like talking about it. 'Accepting', in this case, meant that his mother was often in the back of his mind, whether Eliska liked it or not- he just never voiced or tried to show it.

Sasha had taught Eliska little bits of magic that he could use in the kitchen as well as other nifty spells in their free time, Daiyu occasionally watching and attempting a few of them as well. Over the years, the two had become surprisingly close and even got along relatively well, especially when it was convincing Sasha that they really didn't eat the last of the ice cream. Eliska was eight when he was sent to the Pantheon Institute, located on the outskirts of Nagasaki. Being in a new school, or even in a massive public place for that matter, was a new experience for Eliska and managed to embarrass himself quite a number of times, but gaining a strange form of respect as well. He was seen as a daredevil from quite a few of the kids in his year and he often tried to live up to the name, taking chances and risking a broken arm or some other limb so he could hear the cheers of his classmates.

After Eliska's third year there, Sasha moved to Shikoku, located in the Kochi Prefecture. By then, Eliska had gotten himself quite the reputation through various incidents that landed him in the Headmaster's office at least once a week, but he was proud of them as if the cuts and misplaced joints were battle scars.

Through one of these incidents during his sixth year, however, he was leading a small group of kids through the small woodland behind the institute. It was a pretty dramatized image as far as people go, but it was back when he was still asking Sasha about his mother everyday. He was still feeling the strange left-out and unwanted-ness that he'd learn to get over. Through this small trek through the woods, he stumbled on a boggart living in one of the hollowed trees. It instantly took the form of what Eliska had feared to be his mother: bony and covered in rags, pure white eyes, tangled stringy hair, and holding a bloodied knife. As the boggart screeched and untangled itself from the insides of the tree, Eliska froze in fear and his friends ran. After attempting to scramble away for a few minutes of terror, the Headmaster that had been informed loudly by the kids came and destroyed it. The Headmaster found Eliska holding his face under a large tree with blood seeping out from under his palms. After that, he'd been taken to the infirmary wing of Pantheon, but refused to let anyone touch his face once they'd cleaned the blood, kicking and shouting. By the time Sasha had gotten there, there was a babbling japanese boy with tears streaming down his face. His babbling consisted of guilt on his existence among other things that weren't really his fault. Sasha did everything in his power to try and calm him down and shush his hiccups and soft wails, or at least heal over the cuts, but couldn't manage it- ending in Sasha giving Eliska a white bandanna that had supposedly belonged to his mother and suggesting that he could cover it instead of anyone else trying to heal it or fiddle with it.

After that encounter, a lot of kids looked at him differently with the new fashion statement wrapped around his face. He could tell that even his friends felt awkward around him, but if it was for ditching him at the forest or if it was that he looked different now, he didn't know. Because of the sudden awkwardness between him and his peers, Eliska had taken a good, long look at how people interacted and how fickle they were. Thus, explaining the semi-anti-social side of him. That summer, though, him and Daiyu had become near inseparable due to her prodding and somewhat nosy personality, and she basically saved him from insanity the next few years of school.

During his eighth year, a flood of Chinese transfer students seemed to fill the school nearly to the brim, not to mention that Sasha had decided to move again. This time just on the border between Kyoto and Osaka. No one was informed that the students had moved because of a freak potion accident that had charmed more than half the school with all sorts of varying effects. So, when one of the transfer students transfigured half the school into spider monkeys at the end of the year, it was surprising, to say the least.

The original Pantheon students that hadn't been transfigured were sent to different wizarding schools around the world. Eliska, in this case, was sent to the east coast of the United States and sorted out into one of the schools there- Haunting Academy.

....Daiyu would have been sent along as well, but was transfigured and currently living in Sasha's backyard as a white-faced spider monkey...

Well, hello there! Allow be to be the first to welcome you to Haunting Academy. I'm glad to see some new faces finally showing up around here.

Now, moving on to why we're both here - your character biography. Unfortunately, I cannot immediately approve this as it is now. But fear not - I'm not rejecting you. Just a few adjustments, a little clarification, and you'll be good to go.

First is your character's possession of a Wyvern. While it is an interesting idea, I highly doubt the Ministry of Magic in any country would allow private possession of what basically amounts to a miniature dragon, and its presence most certainly wouldn't be allowed at school. I'm sorry, but I can't allow this.

Next, there are a few spots in your character's history that confuse me. For example, you list your character's name as Suzuki Eliska Zhou. This is all well and good, as unique names are fun. However, your character is written as being born and raised in Japan, though the only Japanese name given is that of Suzuki (Zhou is Chinese; Eliska, Czech). How did he happen to be given such a unique, multi-cultural name? Unique names are good, but giving a background for them makes such things much more believable, and adds depth to your character.

There's also the sister, Xiao Daiyu. How did a Japanese-born character end up with a sister with an entirely Chinese name - one that is different from the rest of the family? This confused me, as the sister isn't mentioned anywhere in your character's history.

Next, there's the Boggart incident. While I'm willing to accept that even the most careful of schools occasionally get Boggarts, and it's likely the unfortunate students just happened to stumble upon the creature before the school was able to take care of the matter, the turn of events immediately afterwards leaves me wondering. If Eliska was never bothered by the fact that he didn't have a mother -as is previously mentioned - why would his worst fear involve his mother? If you wish that to be the case, some further elaboration as to how and why that happened would be greatly appreciated.

As for a professor destroying the Boggart, I'll have to do further research on the matter. I was under the impression - and will check the books for myself when able - that Boggarts are not destroyed outright; that, instead, they are disempowered and are forced to leave. Like I said, I'll be checking the books themselves to make sure of that. I am, however, quite sure that there is no precedent for injuries received from a Boggart having difficulty healing. While it's conceivable that there might be issues were the wound left to heal on its own, with modern and magical medicine alike available, I highly doubt the wound would have had the trouble healing that is depicted above.

I wish to thank you again for your interest in our RP, and for your patience in reading this long post of mine. I sincerely hope we can get everything worked out in a timely manner. Remember, if you feel lost and want help, just ask - the Helpdesk is always open to any questions you may have!

Thank you so much for taking the time and making the effort to address my questions. Everything makes a lot more sense now, and it's much easier to see the thought you put into writing this character. Therefore, I can now label you approved!
